Pain
I talked a little yesterday about Fibromyalgia. This is a really odd thing to live with. There are days I feel like I could run a marathon, then there are days like today. days were I wake up in intense pain. My hips, legs, back, and feet are in such pain that it hurts to stand, sit, lay down or bend over. I choose to work through all of this. I have medicine for the really bad days, however, they have side effects that I do not like. I try a warm shower, or just walking it out. These tricks never really get rid of the pain but sometimes they succeed in making it tolerable.
To try to explain what this pain is like would be hard but I am going to try. This pain is in the muscle or that is what they say. It sometimes feels like a deep tissue muscle spasm other times it just feels like somebody hit me in a single spot for so long that I have lost use of the body part. The pain shows up in very odd places. Anywhere there are muscles I could have pain. Jaws, hips, legs, feet, hands, arms, neck, back, butt. Nothing is safe. I even sometimes end up with a pain that feels like I am having an appendix attack or some other organ. But of coarse they have all been tested and found to be functioning fine. I just have to wait it out and decide, ok is this a real organ pain or is it my Fibromyalgia tricking me. I have almost constant pain in the large muscles in the front of my leg. Sometimes it is better sometimes it is excruciating but still I persevere. I will walk or do something to try to take my mind off of it. We have a joke at my house that it is all in my head. The joke comes from the fact that the brain is sending a signal of pain to a part of my body that has no reason to be in pain. This is not meant as a rude thing. It is meant to lighten the mood on those days when I really want to give up. Beleive it or not this works for me. I have to say that my family and friends are great!
